1 | stick butter |
2 | eggs, beaten |
1 1/2 | cups all-purpose flour, sifted |
1/2 | teaspoon salt |
1 | cup sugar |
1 | teaspoon baking powder |
1/2 | cup milk |
rind of 1 lemon, grated | |
juice of 1 lemon | |
1/2 | cup sugar |
1/2 | cup nuts, chopped |
Cream butter and one cup sugar together. Add beaten eggs and lemon
rind.
Combine dry ingredients and add alternately with milk. Add nuts and
mix well.
Pour into well greased loaf pan. Bake at 350 degrees for one hour
or until done.
Remove from oven and let stand 5 minutes in pan.
While still
in pan, pour over the juice of 1 lemon mixed with 1/2 cup sugar.
Prick
top of loaf so juice can seep in.
