Quick Pickled Peaches

 

 

1 (29-ounce) can peach halves in heavy syrup, undrained
1/2 cup cider vinegar
3/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon whole allspice
1 teaspoon whole cloves
Lettuce Leaves

 

Drain peaches, reserving syrup; set peaches aside.

Combine syrup, vinegar and next 3 ingredients in a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil; boil 5 minutes. Add peaches; reduce heat, and simmer uncovered 5 minutes. Let cool completely. Cover and chill 8 hours. Drain, discarding spices. Serve peaches on lettuce-lined salad plates.
