Combine first 3 ingredients in a large pitcher, stirring until sugar dissolves. Add Fruit; cover and chill at least 1 hour. Pour liquid through a wire-mesh strainer into a pither, reserving fruit. Serve over ice, adding several pieces of reserved frut to each glass. makes 3 1/2 cups
